Holy Angels School adapted the Safe and Caring School program since September 2005, authored by Dr. Katia Peterson. This is a program that is an answer to my prayer to provide our school with a sequenced, yet flexible program for social and emotional learning. The activities are grouped into nine units, one for each month of the school year. A theme is designated for each month in which the whole school in every grade level focuses on the same theme. We have also designated a word for the week that the teachers focus on as we work on the theme of the month. Example: September theme is "Me and My School Community". The words for the each week of the month are...acceptance, belonging, community, and motivation.
We say our Safe and Caring promise every morning as a school and the four words (STOP, THINK, PRAY, CHOOSE) that we need to remember to help us focus on our determination to provide a safe, caring and Christian environment at Holy Angels School.

Family Meeting
Every month Holy Angels School has a "Family Meeting". The 8th Graders are the head of the family. The family members are students from K-7th grade. The 8th Graders use the Safe and Caring School theme of the month as the focus of their sharing and activities. They prepare a meaningful agenda for this meeting. This is a fun and learning experience for the students that teach them responsibility, caring and respect of each other's feelings, talents and personalities.
