A NEWSLETTER FOR THE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS OF HOLY ANGELS SCHOOL
A Message from Sister Leonarda Montealto, O.P.We Have Many Reasons to be Thankful! Whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 We are grateful to God for many reasons… We have had a great first quarter at Holy Angels School. We started to use STAR Math and STAR Reading that provide teachers with a tool to easily screen and monitor progress in students who need intervention. STAR Math and Reading come with a screening and progress monitor tool that allows teachers to set goals and monitor students’ progress as they move throughout the year. This feature allows teachers to decide quickly and accurately whether they need to change their approach with a particular student or continue doing what they are doing. We are proud of our teachers for attending webinars and workshops for professional growth. Our FUN RUN fundraising was amazingly successful! Thank you for going out of your way to contribute in the success of this event. Parents, teachers and staff, students, corporate sponsors and friends…you made a difference in meeting our goal and beyond. We are now underway in planning the renovation of our roof, buying new water fountains for our children, building a new fence and sturdy shed for our Emergency supplies and changing the fence by our 8th grade classroom. Spiritual activities are ongoing at Holy Angels. The children from 8th grade to 5th grade already had their retreat. The theme of the retreat is “We are the Hands, the Feet, and the Voice of Jesus.” Mr. Calma and I led our children in prayer, reflection and sharing that made them aware of God’s love for us and our responsibility to share that love with others. Grades 4 to Kindergarten are scheduled to have their retreat in the months of November to January. Our HAPAC members also had their retreat facilitated by Mr. Bret Allen, Associate Superintendent of our Catholic Schools. It was an evening of spiritual insights, reflection and sharing. Now we are in November with the Thanksgiving holiday upon us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every member of Holy Angels School community for the gifts of time and treasure you give so freely, and with such joy, energy, and spirit. The support we share as a community is part of the rich history and tradition of Holy Angels School. Our faculty and staff and I keep you in our daily prayers every day. If you have special intentions that you want us to pray for, email them to me. We welcome them in our prayers. May our 2016-2017 school year be filled with new learning and exciting events that make Holy Angels School a special community of believers. Mother St. Teresa of Calcutta once said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” This is who we are at Holy Angels School. |
