Emilio R. (Grade 5) gave an invaluable gift - the gift of being a good friend. He used powerful words such as, “You can do this,” or “I’m here for you,” to help a classmate refocus and build self-confidence. To have a friend be there for you when you during your not-so-great moments encourages you to be your best self. Emilio truly showed: Kindness is Simple. Kindness is Love. Kindness Matters.

Congratulations to third grade student, Miguel Martinez, whose artwork was selected by SamTrans and the San Mateo County Office of Education to be part of the 2018 ART TAKES A BUS RIDEcontest. His artwork was one of the 150 entries submitted that won. Miguel received recognition during a special ceremony to honor the winners for their achievement during the San Mateo County Transit District Board Meeting on June 6. Miguel, his family and Mrs. Cordano attended the award ceremony in San Carlos. At this event, the students were escorted into the Board Room and announced as winners before the Board of Directors of the Transit District. After the awards, the Board of Directors joined with the winners and their families for the reveal of the Art Bus. Be sure this summer to look out for Miguel’s artwork on the art bus and perhaps take a ride on this special bus.
